How are tooth infections treated?
Depending on the severity of the infection, a dentist can treat abscesses in a couple of ways. Firstly, the dentist will drain the tooth abscess and clean out the space in or around the tooth to get rid of the bacteria.
In some cases, the tooth can be saved with a root canal, but in other situations, the tooth may need to be extracted.
Fortunately, after an extraction, there are additional tooth replacement methods available, including crowns, bridges or partial dentures.
